The 1968
edition of the Monte Carlo rally, was the first rally of the works Alpine
Renault Team and, with this amazing berlinette (the way how French fans like
to call the A110), they did not won the rally just because of some hooligans
that shovelled snow onto the Col de Turini stage.
At that
time, all crews have to tackle the 930 mile common route and, for the
purpose they had to be prepared for the unexpected, namely with extra spare
wheels. However it did not fit into the Alpine’s interior, so they had to be
roof-mounted. This is the kind of detail that we could not miss and will
help collectors to show how different was rallying in the sixties. |
